Employee Survey
ECOPSY / Practices / Employee Survey
pointer.gifSomething an executive can only guess about

Usually an executive has access to all information about the status of business, including finances, supplies and deliveries, marketing, production and sales, and so on.

In the majority of cases the executive knows exactly what he or she wants to accomplish in the future and how to make it happen.

At the same time, most executives can only guess at what is going on in the minds of their employees and how it reflects on business.

pointer.gifHow do you find out what your employees are «living by» and what to expect of them?

Depending on how they view their job and their surroundings, employees may become the key resource for implementing management's plans and strategies, or wipe out any of its endeavors once and for all.

Employee survey is the most effective way to see the organization through the eyes of its employees and get to understand:

  • Which of the changes currently being introduced in the company are perceived as positive and which as negative?
  • How do people feel about their jobs?
  • How much do they trust their management?
  • What usually is (or may become) the chief reason to leave the company?
  • To what extent do company employees understand and accept their management's ideas, plans and expectations?
The results of employee survey may also become the starting point for investigating the company's corporate culture.

pointer.gifEmployee survey can be useful when:

  • The company is planning changes of a significant import to employees (e.g., implementing a new motivation system).

  • Changes that have already been implemented are not bringing initially expected results.

  • The company has significantly grown and expanded.

  • Qualified specialists are leaving the company.

  • The company is acquiring the reputation of «a major workforce supplier».

  • It is necessary to evaluate and adjust employee management systems in different subdivisions (departments, branches, holding companies) of the organization.
pointer.gifThe most frequently requested survey subjects are:

  • Employee satisfaction with the motivation system.
  • Employee satisfaction with work conditions.

  • Employee satisfaction with opportunities for training, professional development and career growth.

  • Evaluation of inter-departmental communication and information exchange.

  • Employee attitude towards company and management.

  • Understanding and acceptance of company goals and strategies on the part of employees.

  • Comprehensive research of employee satisfaction.
pointer.gifHow we do it:

  • We conduct focus group discussions with key employee groups.

  • We conduct a poll by having employees fill out questionnaires in paper or electronic form, and personally interview key employees when there is a need to do so. We give questionnaires to a representative sample of all employees, which allows us to gather reliable information on commonly shared beliefs and opinions in the company.

  • If necessary, we analyze internal documents generated by the company and related to the subject of our research.

  • We do bench-marking, i.e. compare obtained results against the results of similar surveys we have had in our practice.

  • We do correlation analysis, finding how various factors are related.

  • We create a report including the analysis of the current situation and recommendations for the future, and have a detailed discussion of the report with the client.
